Park serves residents, not multi-millionaires

John Prince Park is a place for residents to enjoy — not for multimillionaire ballplayers and their owners to take over for a few weeks a year so they can further line their pockets with money at the expense of local citizens, who, through taxes, for years paid for its upkeep for the enjoyment of county residents.

I came by John Prince one Sunday afternoon, and the park was hopping. Ballplayers of all sorts, picnickers, bike riders, joggers, walkers, sunbathers, boaters — a multitude of citizens enjoying the great outdoors on a beautiful day.

Now the county commissioners are proposing to take that away from supporters and give it over to those with money who want to make more money. Think of the citizens who use this venue year-round, not of the multimillionaires who want us to sacrifice this area, for a few weeks of the year, to fatten their bank accounts and get a family vacation.

We need to retain this beautiful open space park for our citizens.

Every time i read one of these letters i think- they are not taking over the entire park, only a small section. The park is still going to be open to the public. They are not going to fill in the lake for a parking lot so the boaters can still go there. The only difference is that some people that don't go there because of all the problems will go there for a baseball game.

Your assessment is flat wrong. They want to take over nearly 1/3rd of the dry land. That's NOT small, anonymous. And there are NO problems at JPP.

I listened to the BS coming from the mouth of Peggy Fisher at the last commissioners meeting with regards to her 26 year old son and his friend having to leave because they were frightened by some of the people they encountered. Woosies is what I would call them. A group of us go to this park daily, walking the park and enjoying the wildlife. We have never EVER encountered any one that threatened us or even came close. Hell I feel more threatened walking downtown Lake Worth than I do walking in John Prince Park. Forget that excuse as a reason to put a ball park in JPP. Not cutting it with me. I suppose now you are going to say that crime will decrease once the ball park is put in JPP. What frigging fantasy world are you all living in. The only ones that will benefit from the ball park is the Atlanta Braves owners. Stop the BS and stop wanting to take our park away from us.

I didn't listen to her...left the room. Is that the meeting where she personally attacked me while at the lectern? Peach of a woman.

10:31 - They should not be allowed to take over ANY of our Park ! It is a PARK! Parks are NOT surplus land to be given away to ANYONE or ANYTHING! Only about 224 acres are now available for free public use. And the Braves want over 100 acres of that. Inch by inch, step by step. Anon, look 20 years into the future where people like you said"Just give them a some more. And more, And more". And anon at 10:31-drive around the area and think of how the roads will be with 15,000 more cars on them .Better yet anon , go over to John Prince Park and just take the time to look around, take a walk, watch the birds. Smell the air.Our Parks are vital to our well being as a Community.

It's far more dangerous walking by that felon's business with those people outside. Yuck.

There are vagrants and hobos sleeping in the encampment they have made in woods across from Atlantis in the southern section of the park near the airport.

I have.problem with that.

Contact the PB County Commission. It is their responsibility to find solutions to the homeless.

What has more crime- Lake Worth or John Prince Park? And Piggy Fishbottom's made up story about two 26 year olds being afraid to walk a path in JPP is just so much made up B.S. A love letter to her honey,Burger Boy.Keep saying what you think he wants to hear,Piggy. With enough beer and B.S. anything could happen.
